1944-45 WW2 German M40 Helmet w/ Partial German Eagle Found in Latvia

Excavated from the Kurland Battle field by a local resident. The original owner collected dozens of battle field helmets that he personally found by metal detecting the known battle fields of the region. This practice is now being banned, so new finds are not too common due to the restrictions.

The Battle of Kurland took place from 1944-45. The original owner referred to this helmet as having battle damage and a sniper shoot bullet hole. It certainly appears to have both, but attribution to a sniper is only conjecture. The helmet is full intact, less the obvious battle damage and bullet hole. Additionally, the original German Eagle Decal is still partially visible.
